What Server do I use to send and receive mail?
Important: This
Section is for operators of Virtual Dedicated Servers only. This information does not apply to
standard hosting accounts.
Well, yours, of course! The big question is what are the server names for the SMTP and POP
servers, and how to get going with it.
Adding users to your server adds users with POP accounts. Configure your Eudora Mail, Pegasus,
or Outlook Express client to send and receive mail.
As a general rule, the POP server will be your server name, such as vds.mydomainname.com. This
would also normally be the SMTP server as well. Always check mail via POP prior to sending or
you may get a "Relaying Denied" error from the SMTP server. After you check your mail, your IP
address is added to a temporary database of IPs that are allowed to send mail via your server.
If you wait too long after checking before sending mail you may get an error. Just check your
mail again, then send. That should do it.
