Q. How Do I add a Sub Web or create a web which is Password Protected?
A.
Please note: This procedure applies to im1.com FrontPage
enabled Accounts.
 | Open your existing FrontPage Web (the live site). |
 | Under "Folder List" in the Folder View, right-click your main
folder and select "New Folder" |
 | Type a name for your new folder. |
 | Right Click on your new folder and select "Convert to Web". |
 | You will see the following message, select yes to proceed. |

 | The regular folder icon will change to one that looks like this. |
 | Double click the new folder icon to open your new Sub Web. |
 | FrontPage 2000 will open up a new window for the new Sub Web. |
 | Now go to Tools-- Security-- Permissions |

 | You should see the following box: |

 | Select "Use Unique Permissions for this web. |
 | Select Apply |
 | Click on "Users" tab, You should see the following: |

 | Click on the button for "Only Registered users..." |
 | Click Add to add a new user of your choice. |

 | In this case we call the new user "dude" and give him browse
only access. You can add multiple users with different levels of access at
any time. |

 | You're now done. Only "dude" and "webm910c" can browse
this web. Only "webm910c" can administer, author, and browse it.
You could also add a user that can only author and browse this web. This web
is now controlled independent of your main or "root" web. |

 | As long as we're here, we should touch on the computers tab. If you
company has a dedicated connection to the Internet or your ISP gives you a
static IP address, you can increase the security of your web by setting this
function to allow only certain IP addresses to publish or view your webs.
This is a powerful feature, but be careful, if you make a mistake you
can lock yourself or your audience out of the web site completely. If
you feel you really need to use this, contact our support department for
advice first, we may have other suggestions or can at least talk you through
it. |
